About Kota:
In the past, Kota was known for weaving doria (stripe) fabrics in narrow widths for turbans. Maharaj Kishore Singh (1684–1695), the great patron of crafts, brought some weavers from Mysore to Kota. Around 250 years ago, these weavers introduced silk yarn to the Doria weaving technique, which is still used today in Kota and the surrounding areas. The ""Kota Doria saree,"" also known as the ""Kota Masuria saree,"" has become synonymous with Kota. In order to design the Kota Doria Saree, additional warp and weft yarns made into gold and silver zari (fine metallic threads) are woven into the base fabric of cotton and mulberry raw silk. While the fine raw silk gives the fabric transparency and delicateness, the cotton yarn gives it strength and pliability.
This is a Kota style saree embroidered with Kattam (grid)-like patterns all over. Comfortable material that shines elegantly on the wearer, regardless of the occassion! Explore more saree varieties & interesting designs on our online store.
