In the vibrant town of Srivilliputhur, lived a devout girl named Andal. Adopted by the revered priest Periyalvar, she grew up immersed in the worship of Lord Vishnu. Andal’s devotion knew no bounds; she would often dream of being united with the divine. One auspicious day, Andal decided to weave a garland for the Lord. Enchanted by her creation, she adorned herself with the garland before offering it to Vishnu. Periyalvar, discovering this, was initially dismayed and deemed the garland unfit for the deity. However, that night, Lord Vishnu appeared in Periyalvar's dream, expressing his desire for Andal’s garland, sanctified by her pure devotion. Thus, Andal came to be known as ""Malai Soodi Kodutha Andal,"" meaning the maiden who offered the garland she wore. Her love and unwavering devotion became legendary, symbolizing the divine bond between the devotee and the deity. To this day, Andal is revered as an incarnation of Bhudevi, celebrated for her unmatched devotion and love for Lord Vishnu.
